Description and services

Renovated recently with the concern to bring to the beauty of the Arabo-Andalusian architecture a contemporary note, the riad Davia will seduce you by the elegance of its decoration and the quality of its services. Your comfort and your well-being are a preoccupation of every moment. A particular note is given to the talent of the cooker and to the kindness of all the team which will try to make your stay special.

History: the riad owes its name to DAVIA, Sultana of Marrakesh ( 1755-1811 ) whose history, both terrifying and magic, you will discover, between a Corsican fate and mysteries of Morocco.

The large patio is the life centre of the riad and incites you to refresh you in its splash pool, to drink a tea in the shade of the hundred-year-old mulberry tree or to have a nap in the big Indian beds.

In its continuation you will discover the winter lounge and its majestic chimney made in chocolate tadelakt.
Each of three suites and two rooms has its own decoration; shimmering tissues, antique carpets and refined objects complement one another harmoniously to the comfort of the installations.
So that your stay passes by at the rate of the oriental tradition, the riad has its own hammam and its treatment room where you could let you go to the sweetness and to the professionalism of our masseuse - a qualified beautician.
You will discover on the terrace a magnificent sight of the Atlas, a solarium shielded from the glances and a dining room under caidale tent.

The riad Davia hides in the medina, just a step from the door Bab Aylen, authentic and quiet district situated directly on the road of the golf. Very easy access, you can go to the discovery of the red city, the hustle and bustle of souks and the famous place Jeema el fna, the modern district of Gueliz with his shops selling luxury goods and its trendy restaurants or peace and beauty of the surrounding country.

We happened to be the only people staying there but this did not detract from the exceptional service we received. Everyone was on hand at any point in the day for help with tourist tips in the city, walking us to the Medina so we didn't get lost, making us tea in the afternoon on request and serving breakfast at a convenient time for us. If you want to stay in the locals part of time in a haven of tranquility this is the place for you. Do not think that this will be your stereotypical hotel, far from it. It is like staying in someones house, but if that is for you, you will have a fantastic time when you want some peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. One helpful tip - be prepared to pay in cash!

Nine close friends and family came together for a 30th birthday holiday in the wonderful Riad Davia. The reception we received on arrival set the standard for the rest of the holiday... It was friendly, welcoming and humble. Here is where we met the fantastic Habib, the owner. Habib showed us around the Riad and every room was beautiful, we were very happy! Habib looked after us for the duration of our trip and was able to organise every thing we needed from taxis, to restaurants, excursions, basically there was no query big or small enough. Breakfast every morning was lovely - the table setting sat us together like a family and the food was lovely especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. The location was perfect, easy - quick to get a taxi, quick to walk to the main square. We would gladly stay again!

I would recommend staying at this Riad for all visiting Marrakech. We were looked after so well by Habib too. Excellent location, rooms and hospitality.

Riad Davia is a nice, quiet spot within the crowded and chaotic medina of Marrakech. The riad's manager is polite and friendly. He is very helpful and organized several things for us, that do not belong to the 'regular hotel services' (e.g. free cups of tea, bottles of water for our journey, the delivery - in downtown Marrakech - of an item that we left in our room after our departure). Some features are to be improved, though: breakfast is moderate (no fresh juice, no fruit, no yoghurt), having a shower turns the bathroom into a swimming pool... The riad is situated within the medina, but in a part without any tourist attractions (near Bab Aylen). The disadvantage is, that you always have to walk for at least 20 minutes if you want to visit a point of interest. But on the other hand: you are in the middle of local Moroccan life! All together, Riad Davia is an agreeable place to stay for a couple of nights.
